This spring and early summer has been a very busy time
for our Club. We have now awarded all eight charities a
total of $6,000 for their programs benefiting the
children of Williamson County as approved in our annual
budget. Because we have a surplus in our Literacy
Program budget, the Board has decided to appropriate
$1,000 to the Children's Miracle Network. This will be
awarded in the next few weeks.
A total of $8,000 in scholarship funds were awarded to
four senior students from Georgetown, Jarrell and
Richarte high schools.
Our Club received $750 from the Fish City Grille as
they had designated our Club as the recipient of their
First Tuesday charity for the month of May. This award
represents 15% of their receipts on the first Tuesday,
May 5, 2009.
The Kiwanis International Convention will be in
Nashville June 25-28 and the Texas-Oklahoma Convention
will be in Rockwall, Texas August 6-8. Several Sun City
Kiwanians will be attending both Conventions.
And, as a reminder, the next two meetings, June 16 and
23 will be at the Atrium as the Grandchildren's Camp is
taking over the Ballroom on both Tuesdays.
As many of our members begin heading for cooler sections
of the Country, I wish everyone a safe and happy summer.
